Some details of the sprint

So you’ve finally bit the bullet and jailbroke your iPod Touch just like a lot of people. You got your Cydia app but now what? What will be your next step? What apps should you be getting next?

Here are some Cydia applications you may want to install pronto. Use Cydia’s Search button to look for them. All of these are applicable for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad by the way.

What good is jailbreaking your device if you won’t be customizing your interface. Winterboard allows you to apply themes on your iPod. There’s a lot of themes available in Cydia but be sure to check the Featured Themes section first.

 if you want to download iTunes apps from a third party site, this is the app for you. You don’t need to sync your iPod into iTunes to install games, just run Installous, look for an app or a game then download and install.

3. AppSnc
If you have a friend who have tons of iOS games (.IPA files) that you want to copy, then you need AppSync. This allows you to transfer .IPA files from your desktop into iTunes that you can then sync into your device. You also need this to transfer apps that you downloaded from Installous into iTunes.

This is not an app that would appear on your screen and be sure to download the appropriate version for your iOS firmware

This app is just a quicker way to toggle some common settings like WiFi, Bluetooth, Processes, etc. Instead of closing your app and clicking Settings to turn off WiFi or adjust brightness, just swipe the top part of your display and a pop-up settings window will appear even if you’re inside an app.

5. afc2add
Sometimes you wish you could just put any files into your iPod from your PC so you could just carry it around. afc2add is not an app that you would see on your screen but it is something that would would turn your iPod into a USB disk if partnered with Windows applications like iPhone folders, iFun Box, iPhone Browser, DiskAid, etc.

With iPhone Folders installed in your system, you can plug your iPod into your PC and you can start accessing folders and files from it. I wouldn’t suggest tinkering with built-in folders and files unless you know what you’re doing. Just create a separate folder for you to put files you want to bring with you.

6. MXTube

It really sucks that you can’t save videos from YouTube for offline viewing. Not with the built-in YouTube app at least. However, MXTube will solve all that. It has a YouTube search function and you can choose to stream the video or download it into your iPod for later viewing.

7. CyDelete

I can’t blame you for installing a bunch of Cydia apps that you thought would be cool. However, if most of them turned out to be crap you need to install CyDelete so you can delete them just like a regular iOS app.
This is not an app that you would see on your screen.
There are a lot more hidden gems in the Cydia repository like the ROM emulators for SNES, Arcade, etc.. Some are made for the iPhone and some for the iPad, but these 7 apps I mentioned should help you kick things off whether you have a jailbroken iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
